Dumpster Raccoons!

We just finished our second “Captivating Animals” class. We read part of Lori Gruen’s chapter “Why animals matter” in Ethics and Animals: An Introduction. Key terms include: human exceptionalism, ethical concern, reason, unique, superior, capacities, tool use, language, theory of mind, empathy, living machines, and associative learning.

Shortly after logging off Zoom, I was alerted to the fact that these five large raccoons were recently discovered hanging out in an NYC dumpster. Two escaped via a tower of garbage, but three are staying put.
